9/29/2011: Center for the Environment and National Security. OpenOceans Global made a presentation called "Using GIS to Bridge the Gap Between Water, Climate, Finance and Other Communities."
The presentation focused on how GIS can be used to share multiple
perspectives of the same issue in a common format.
Ocean Jobs Tab is Live. With the launch of the web site, the Ocean Jobs tab is live ... and with a form allowing viewers to suggest additional job boards to add to the page.

10/17/2011: New OpenOceans Global web site goes live.The next iteration of the OpenOceans Global web site goes live.
2/25/2010: Portland Town Hall Meeting.
OpenOceans Global hosted a Town Hall session at the American Geophysical Union's Ocean Sciences meeting in Portland, Oregon. This conference is one of the largest international gatherings of ocean scientists with more than 4,000 in attendance. The discussion focused on how to aggregate and visualize ocean data and the role of the semantic web. The stellar group of panelists included: Steven Diggs from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Zdenka Willis from NOAA's Integrated Ocean Observing System Program, Peter Wiebe from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and Peter Fox from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
12/17/2009: Copenhagen Panel Discussion Online.
Video of OpenOceans Global's co-hosted event, "Live from Copenhagen," is now available online. The event originated on December 17, 2009, from
the HubCulture Pavilion in Copenhagen and at the same time at the University of San Diego's Kroc Center. The panel discussion featured
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Climate Team (see below). USD has edited and merged video from both locations that can now be

OpenOceans Global hosted a live videostream from Copenhagen featuring California
Secretary of the Environment Linda Adams, Secretary of Natural Resources Mike Chrisman, Secretary of Agriculture A.G. Kawamura, and Air
Resources Board Chair Mary Nichols. The two-way dialogue was hosted in San Diego at USD's Kroc Center by Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves &Savitch. Live from Copenhagen.
10/21/09: San Diego's Choice Awards.
OpenOceans Global competed for $50,000 in additional funding by asking supporters and friends to vote in KFMB Channel 8's "San Diego's Choice Awards for Environmental Stewardship". The top four "Environmental Champions" competed for this funding.
10/21/09: OpenOceans an Environmental Champion.
OpenOceans Global named an "Environmental Champion"by the Sempra Energy Foundation and awarded $50,000 for the organization's work with the Tijuana River Valley Recovery Team web site.

09/12/06: Open Oceans web site celebrates the end of first week of operation.

The latest version of the PowerPoint presentation: “A Collaborative Three-Legged Stool to Balance Ocean Investigations, Public Understanding, and Decisions” was posted for comments prior to the presentation at the California and the World Ocean '06 Conference.
